“National Geothermal Day” Announced at AHR Chicago

"National Geothermal Day" Campaign To Focus on Education #GeoDay2015
The Geothermal HVAC industry is coming together to educate consumers with a pointed campaign that will culminate in a “National Geothermal Day” proclamation on October 20th during National Energy Month. Geothermal HVAC is Solar Energy stored in the ground beneath us, and this educational campaign will enlighten consumers and school-aged youth on this truth.

Announced today (January 26, 2015), this public campaign is designed to significantly expand consumer awareness regarding the science, practice and benefits of geothermal based heating and cooling in North America. The efforts that are coming together and that will help bring this into fruition include:
  • A consumer friendly educational video
  • Interactive children’s activities
  • An illustrated children’s book
  • An interactive website: http://www.geothermalday.com/

Industry partners and stakeholders that will be engaged in support of this effort include equipment manufacturers, drillers, installing contractors, industry associations and consumers.

Key personnel in the US Department of Energy, Energy Information Administration (EIA), and the National Energy Education Development Project (NEED.org) have pledged their support and are engaged in getting the word out.  It is especially important for this campaign to reach school age kids so that they can help to make our future a “Geothermal Friendly World”.  NEED has shared their excitement in sharing this information and they have the resources as a division of the EIA to place this information in public schools.

“Geothermal is captured solar energy and is always present in the ground beneath us” said Kyle Murray, Director of Marketing for Bosch Thermotechnology. “Combine geothermal with solar energy and any kind of building can reach NetZero energy status.”
